Track your flock across the hill
Flockarewe tracks Irish hill and commonage sheep with LoRa ear tags, GPS collars and geofencing, so you can find a stray in minutes, know the moment the flock scatters, and manage your commonage. It works on the open hill where there is no mobile signal, and without a SIM for every ewe.
Built for Irish hill ground
From the Donegal hills to Connemara and Wicklow, flocks range over large, broken ground with patchy coverage. LoRa ear tags report to gateways on high ground, so you keep track of the flock without a SIM for every ewe.
Find strays fast
When a ewe strays off the hill, onto a neighbour's commonage or onto the road, you see where she is on a live map rather than walking the whole hill, which saves time at gathering and lambing.
Cut theft and rustling
Sheep theft is a serious and growing problem across Ireland. Flock Watch raises an urgent alert the moment the flock suddenly runs and bunches together, with a location you can hand to the Gardai.
Made for commonage
Much Irish hill is grazed as commonage. Our commons module handles shared ground, stocking and per-shareholder records, so a whole commonage can run on one platform.
Why Irish hill farms use Flockarewe
Irish hill farming means hardy flocks ranging over large, broken ground, much of it grazed as commonage and much of it beyond mobile coverage. That is exactly the ground Flockarewe is built for. LoRa ear tags on the whole flock report to gateways on high ground, so you get a live map across the hill without paying for a SIM on every ewe.
For theft, which has hit farms across Ireland hard, Flock Watch watches how the flock behaves and raises an urgent alert the instant it bolts and bunches together, with a location to give the Gardai. And where you graze commonage, the commons module keeps stocking and per-shareholder records for the whole commonage.
It is one platform across sheep and cattle, with theft detection, geofencing and welfare alerts in one place.
Sheep tracking in Ireland, FAQs
Does it work on the hill with no signal?
Yes. LoRa ear tags and collars report to gateways sited on high ground, which cover the hills and valleys where there is no mobile signal, and without a SIM for every animal. Only 4G collars use the mobile network.
Can it help against sheep theft in Ireland?
Yes. As well as geofence and stray alerts, Flock Watch detects the flock running and bunching together, the signature of a dog worrying them or someone rounding them up to steal them, and gives you a live location to pass to the Gardai.
Does it work for commonage?
Yes. The commons module is built for shared grazing: stocking, shared stock and per-shareholder records, so the whole commonage can see its stock on one map while each farmer keeps their own animals.
Is it suitable for Scotch and hill breeds?
Yes. Light LoRa ear tags suit hardy hill ewes that range widely, and GPS collars are available for animals you want a precise fix on, such as rams or known strayers.
What does it cost for an Irish hill flock?
Cost depends mainly on how many gateways your ground needs plus the tags. We usually start with a pilot on the core hill before you commit the whole flock, and we will quote once we know your terrain.
