How many animals
Tags are a one-off per animal, so head count sets most of the hardware cost, and the price per tag falls as the number rises.
What your ground is like
A LoRa gateway covers roughly a 2 km radius in open country and less through ridges and valleys, so acreage and how broken it is decide how many you need.
Whether gateways are practical
Each gateway needs power and a route back to the internet. Where that is not realistic, satellite (NTN) tags cost more per head but need nothing on the ground.
How precisely you need to know
Ear tags give a paddock-level position for the whole flock. GNSS or 4G collars pinpoint individual animals, and most holdings run a few over a base of ear tags.
Compare any quote, ours included, as total cost per animal per year over three years, with hardware, batteries, network and software all in. Per-head software pricing and per-animal SIM fees are where flock-scale costs usually hide.

There are two parts: a monthly software plan for the holding, and a one-off cost for the trackers and any gateways. We quote both together once we know your flock size and your ground, because the hardware side varies a great deal between a compact lowland unit and spread hill ground. Tell us about your holding and we will put real numbers in front of you.
Why aren't prices listed on the site?+
We are re-confirming tracker and gateway costs with our supplier, and we would rather quote you accurately than publish a figure we then have to correct. Get in touch and you will get current pricing for your own situation.
Do I need a subscription, or can I just buy the trackers?+
Both. The monthly plan runs the live map, the alerts, Shep and your records; the trackers are a one-off purchase. There is no long-term contract, and you can start on a small number of animals to prove it on your own ground before committing.
What's the difference between LoRa ear tags, satellite tags and GPS collars?+
LoRa ear tags are the lowest cost per head and talk to gateways on your own land, around a 2 km radius each, so larger ground needs several. Satellite (NTN) tags need no gateway and no mobile signal at all, which suits remote or spread grazing. GNSS and 4G collars pinpoint individual animals in real time and are usually run on a handful of higher-value stock. All three work in one workspace.
Do the trackers need a mobile signal or SIM?+
LoRa ear tags and satellite tags carry no SIM and do not use the mobile network. Only 4G collars do, and those include a data SIM.
Are there setup fees or minimum contracts?+
No setup fees and no minimum term. For larger flocks, collars, gateways or bulk quantities, we quote a tailored arrangement rather than a list price.
